Haris Sohail Named The ‘World’s Worst Person in Sports’ By ESPN Olbermann Program
Pakistan all-rounder Haris Sohail was named as the “World’s Worst Person in Sports” by ESPN Olbermann program hosted by Keith Olberman. Just recently, Sohail claimed a ghostly encounter in a New Zealand Hotel room that earned him the tag.
Sohail revealed that a supernatural presence woke him up in his Christchurch hotel room by shaking his bed, forcing him to seek refuge in the room of his coach. Sohail, who insisted on changing room after the incident, is touring for warm-up matches ahead the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in New Zealand and Australia next month.
According to team manager Naveed Akram Cheeva, Sohail phoned a member of the staff to say that he’d been woken by his bed being shaken. The coach rushed into the room and saw the batsman shaken and feverish. Although the team management tried to explain that the fever might have caused a nightmare, the 26-year-old was adamant his experience was supernatural.
“He’s OK and he’s concentrating on cricket as he should be,” Cheeva said. “He had a fever. We think it was the fever that caused it but the player still believes his bed was shaken by something and it was a supernatural something.”
Following the incident, Sohail was examined by the team doctor but he’s found to be in good health. Pakistan media reported that Sohail was traumatised by the event that he was unable to train and he even missed a one-day warm-up game on Sunday.
ESPN journalist Olbermann made fun in recounting Sohail’s experience after the batsman was reportedly traumatised by the supernatural experience. Obermann also mocked Stuart Broad for a previous incident last year, when the England bowler was certain that a supernatural being had turned on the taps in his hotel room. The sports commentator also retold another ghost story that involved the Australian tennis star Pat Cash, who thinks that he had a run-in a ghoul in 1987.
