'Harry Potter' Gets Flunked On Oscar Chance by the 'Bridesmaids'
The Oscars is only a few weeks away and everyone in Hollywood plus the film industry are on their toes awaiting the nominations. However, many are buzzing about "Bridesmaids" leading the nominations while "Harry Potter" sunk to the bottom.
The Producers Guild's nominations have been announced and with that another film has been added to the Best Picture Field. What film exactly? Fans of the film "Bridesmaids" may start jumping and celebrating right about now however the news may not be too sure.
Kristen Wiig's "Bridesmaids" may or may have not made the list for PGA nominees for the award of film of the year. Apart from films by George Clooney, other films that made it to the list are: "The Descendants, The Artist, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Ides of March, Hugo, The Help, War Horse, Moneyball and Midnight in Paris."
Big names simply because the films were made by the big shots in the film industry of which include Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Alexander Payne and Martin Scorsese.
If "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" surprisingly making the list comes as a big shock, especially that the final installment of the one of the most-celebrated film franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" was unable to make the list.
Apart from "Harry Potter" who flunked the PGA nominations for film of the year, the films "J. Edgar, The Tree of Life, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" also failed to make to list.
As for "Bridesmaids" being nominated, there is however a catch. The Academy might not nominate 10 films this year, meaning if "Bridesmaids" made it to number 10, then chances are the movie won't be making it to the final nominee list at all.
In other news regarding the Oscars, other nominees announced for top toon honors are "Kung Fu Panda 2, Rango, The Adventures of Tintin and Puss in Boots."
Hollywood is set to wait until January 21 wherein the 23rd Annual Producers Guild of America Awards will be presented.
