Henry Cavill Talks 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' Trailer, Compares Film With 'Man Of Steel'
Henry Cavill was recently asked for his thoughts on whether “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” can be considered as a sequel to “Man of Steel.” As with previous confirmation, the actor said the film shouldn’t be looked at as a continuation to his character’s story because of Batman’s involvement in the film. The actor also shared his response on viewers’ feedback about the “BVS” trailer.
Henry Cavill was recently at Las Vegas for the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation for his new film “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” According to Comicbookmovie, the actor was asked during the presentation whether “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” should be viewed as a sequel to “Man of Steel.”
“I wouldn't call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman versus Superman, so it's a separate entity altogether,” he said.
Cavill also shared his opinion as to why he thinks “BVS” should not be considered as a continuation to Superman’s story from “Man of Steel.” It’s basically the inclusion of Ben Affleck’s Batman in the story that makes the film different. The actor said “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” is an “introduction to the [Batman] character, and ultimately an introduction to 'Justice League.'" The film reportedly marks the caped crusader’s debut in the DC Expanded Universe and that “Man of Steel” only “kicked off” Batman’s introduction in that universe.
During the same CinemaCon event, Henry Cavill also spoke about fans’ reactions to the first official trailer released for “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.” According to Hitfix, few fans were not impressed at the preview and some were even “downright scornful” about it. However, Cavill appeared not to have heard or read about the negative comments or may have reportedly simply chosen to ignore the criticisms when asked “what sort of feedback” he’s heard from people.
Henry Cavill said he hasn’t spoken to people about the “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer since the preview came out. However, the actor seemed to have focus on the positive feedback from viewers on the trailer when he replied “people seemed to be pretty excited about it.” He also made reference to the number of views the trailer received on Facebook. Henry Cavill supposed the trailer received better reviews considering the 12 million hits it received within the day it was shared on Facebook.
