Alexander Fehling has nabbed the role of Jonas Happich. TV Line has revealed that Happich is a lawyer who will be seen dating the former CIA agent. The 12-episode new season picks up two years after the events of Season 4 finale. Quinn’s fate is still wrapped in mystery and his whereabouts have not been leaked.

In addition to a new boyfriend, Carrie will be getting a new boss as well. Sebastian Koch has signed on to play her German boss who is also a philanthropist. Sarah Sokolovic has been cast as an American journalist. Happich and Sokolovic’s characters are colleagues at the Düring Foundation.

Meanwhile, Miranda Otto is joining the “Homeland” Season 5 cast as a series regular. She will be seen playing the role of Berlin’s chief of station, Allison Carr. According to reports, Carr will be working directly under Saul (Mandy Patinkin).

The new season of “Homeland” is set to deal with the current events of Middle East. The Hollywood Reporter has quoted showrunner Alex Gansa as saying “Look at what's going on in the Middle East, look at what's going on in Syria and Iraq, look what's happening in the Ukraine. We'll be in Europe telling this story. It's all going to be part of the world she's in.”

The last season saw Quinn taking up a dangerous assignment, though he had initially refused to be part of it. It is Carrie’s hesitation to accept his proposal that made him leave for the assignment. He left behind a note for Carrie, to be delivered after his death. The episode also revealed that there was no way to contact Quinn and find out his whereabouts. It looks like Carrie has been unable to get in touch with Quinn even after two years.
