Honor 7 Smartphone Cements Huawei’s Position Among Tech Top Players
Huawei, a smartphone maker from China, has just unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 7, during a special event in Beijing. Apart from the company’s latest smartphone unit, it also introduced two new accessories to the tech market, namely the Honor Band Zero and the Honor Whistle.
The Honor Band Zero is a smart wearable tech, while the Honor Whistle is a special headset that connects devices through Bluetooth. With all these new tech devices, CNET has reported that it would appear Huawei is working hard to push out its fellow Chinese vendor, Xiaomi, out of the race.
Xiaomi managed to enter the Western tech industry when it brought its own devices, which are very affordable, especially compared to the other gadgets that exist in the market today. However, Huawei reportedly feels very good about its Honor line. In fact, rumour has it that the company believes its Honor 7 might even sell 40 million units this year, alone – which as twice as much as the sales of last year’s flagship smartphone model.
Since the Honor line debuted in the tech market, it managed to reel in $2.6 billion in revenue from more than 70 nations during the first half of 2015. It has been attempting to strengthen its brand recognition by trying out a direct sales tactic on its own online store.
This particular strategy has already been successfully applied by Xiaomi in certain parts in Asia. As part of Xiaomi’s brand expansion in South America, the company will be holding its own launch event in Brazil.
The Honor 7 of Huawei features a body that is made of metal. It will sport a 5.2-inch display, an octa-core processor, a 3,100 mAh battery, 3 GB of RAM, an 8MP front camera that comes with a rear sapphire camera lens and a 20MP standard camera with a Sony sensor. According to the rumor mill, the device will be running on Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
