Brian Cushing is banged up after the 2014 season in the National Football League, or NFL, but he’s hopeful that he can return healthy after three surgeries in the current offseason. The inside linebacker played last season with a broken right wrist but he also had to undergo surgery for injuries on his left ankle and left knee.

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Cushing shared the news but is optimistic that he’d be 100 per cent healthy and will be ready for the Texans’ offseason program.

"It's not uncommon for stuff like that to happen. It's just little things here and there, the residual effects of two major surgeries and injuries, the wear and tear of playing throughout the season,” Cushing said in the article. "There were still some things bothering me a little bit. Just went in there and had real good success in both areas and looking forward to a very healthy and productive season.”

Cushing has already struggled with various injuries in recent offseasons. He had an ACL tear in 2012 and a leg and torn LCL in 2013 but the linebacker is confident that the medical team in Houston can make him better physically before the new NFL season begins.
If healthy in 2015, the Texans will have a dangerous defensive rotation that also feature J.J. Watt, considered the best defensive player in the NFL, and Jadeveon Clowney.

The 28 year old Cushing made the NFL Pro Bowl once in his career in 2009 and was the Houston Texans Most Valuable Player in 2011 and the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2009. He was the 15th overall pick by the Texans in the 2009 NFL Draft and has played with Houston since.
