TV comedy series "How I Met Your Mother" is currently in production for its ninth and final season, but circulating reports suggest an upcoming spin-off will be made as a successor to the hit CBS sitcom. A possible storyline for the "HIMYM" spin-off series is rumoured to focus on the "Mother" and her life before becoming Mrs Ted Mosby.

TV Guide's William Keck previously reported that "HIMYM" co-creator Carter Bays does not rule out the possibility of a "relationship-themed spin-off" series.The "HIMYM" spin-off could be called "How I Met Your Father" featuring actress Cristin Milioti as the Mother where more interesting and fun information about Mrs Mosby will be revealed like her name, family, friends and the men she dated before meeting Ted.

Another speculated spin-off storyline considered is the married life of couple Marshall and Lily.

In the mean time, "How I Met Your Mother" fans will still have one full season to look forward to as Season 9 concludes the TV show on air.

For instance, characters Ted Mosby and Robin Scherbatsky will finally have a closure in their previous romantic relationship before she walks down the aisle and say "I Do" to Barney Stinson. Actress Cobie Smulders revealed that there will be a weird and tense reunion first between the ex-couple during the wedding weekend.

"I think that there's this stress of the wedding happening... Things are definitely weird between her and Ted. They haven't seen each other, so we shot a few scenes where they finally saw each other. There's definitely a lot of tension between them. But it's also like, they've all been friends for so long that it's par for the course... But I don't know what's going to happen at the actual wedding," the actress stated in an interview with IGN.

Moreover, actor Josh Radnor dished to E!Online about what he feels now that "HIMYM" is approaching its end. "I feel like we're leaving at a high point, and I feel like the series is as loved and popular as ever. And I feel like they can wrap up the story in exactly the way they want to, so it feels good to me," Mr Radnor, who portrays Ted Mosby, stated.

The wedding weekend will highlight as well how the rest of the "HIMYM" cast met first the Mother before finally crossing paths with Ted. "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 is set to premiere on September 23 at the CBS television network.
