Google Nexus S is co-developed by Google and Samsung which the first device to use Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Later on, the device became viable for Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but there is no confirmation that it will have Android 4.2 version. The Android Open Kang Project custom ROM such as Cyanogenmod included the Google Nexus S to the list of devices eligible for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, featuring zero bloatware apps, faster and smoother performance, actionable notifications, daydream, photo sphere and unique modifications from CM10.1

This custom ROM is applicable to Google Nexus S GT-I9020, flashing this to other devices can cause unexpected results.

Preparations:

1. The device must have at least 75 per cent of battery level to avoid power interruptions.

2. Check the USB debugging on your phone.

3. The flashing will erase all personal information and data files inside the device, make sure to create backup copies.

4. The device must be rooted, bootloader unlocked , and have a custom recovery app such as Clockworkmod or TWRP.

5. Download the AOKP Custom ROM based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the Google Apps package.

Flashing Procedure:

1. Connect your phone to the computer and copy both the AOKP Custom ROM and Google Apps package on the internal memory of your device.

2. Disconnect Google Nexus S from the computer and turn it off. Reboot into recovery mode.

3. Inside the custom recovery, make a nandroid backup of ROM in case you need to restore it if any errors occur.

4. After doing an nandroid backup, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."

5. Select the "install zip from sdcard and then "choose zip from sdcard." Select the AOKP custom ROM and install it. Do the same with Google Apps package.

6. After the installation, go back and select "reboot system now."

7. Wait 3-5 minutes for the device to boot on its first time.
