Speed Up Your Google Nexus 7 and Extend its Battery Life [Videos]
Google Nexus 7 is a thin, light and portable 7-inch tablet of the Nexus line of devices. It lasts all-day, according to Google, has Android OS and costs only $199. Heavy users will find it hard to believe that it can withstand games, music, browsing, and movies performed continuously. To make the tablet work more efficiently, here are ways to speed it up and extend the battery life.
How to Speed Up Your Google Nexus 7
1. Disable Background Sync
Facebook, Twitter, Google Currents and other applications constantly sync without you knowing. In effect, the device will slow down due to lack of virtual memory or RAM. Go to these applications and change the syncing to "never" or uncheck the "enable background sync" in their settings.
2. Do not over customise
Live wallpapers and overrated widgets on the home screen can cause the device to lag. Loosen the high graphic live wallpaper and change it to high quality images. Use widgets that you truly need and remove others to ease out the device. Live wallpapers and widgets drain battery as well.
3. Update Your Software
Do not forget to check for updates constantly. Updates offer performance enhancements and bug fixes.
4. Restart the Phone Regularly
It is recommended to reboot the device every now and then similar to PC. This releases load from the memory which makes the phone faster on its next boot.

1. Turn off Wireless Connectivity
Deactivate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS if not in use. Active wireless adapters will constantly look for a connection which leads to huge battery consumption.
2. Minimise Screen Brightness and Screen Time-out
High screen brightness is good for outdoor viewing but it is one of the major factors for reducing battery level. Lower it to a degree that still visible to your eyes and only max it out if going outside. Alternatively, use the Power Control for quick toggles of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Screen Brightness.
3. Use the Airplane Mode
If you are going to sleep or do not need any wireless connection, use the Airplane Mode to save more battery. Hold and Press the Power Key and select Airplane Mode.
4. Manual Syncing
Go to your accounts such as Facebook, Yahoo or Gmail for manual syncing. Syncing constantly consume battery even there is no active connection; disable automatic syncing as well if not needed.
5. Remove Unnecessary Applications
Go to Settings > Battery, check the applications or functions which consumes a lot of battery. Uninstall applications that you do not need anymore or conflicts with others to reduce battery consumption and prevent errors in the future.
