HTC Inks Exclusive Phone Supply Deal with UEFA
Taiwanese mobile innovation and design company HTC announced on Friday a three-year agreement with UEFA Champions League and UEF Europa League to become the leagues' official globe phone supplier partner.
The agreement will kick of January 2013, and the partnership places HTC at the centre of two of the world's most elite football competitions and will deliver new and innovative ways for fans worldwide to get close in the action, whether by watching from the stadium or viewing content on an HTC device.
Gianni Infantino, UEFA general secretary stated, "I am pleased to welcome HTC to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League Family. Through this partnership, UEFA and HTC will promote European club football to a worldwide audience and bring new opportunities for our fans to engage with the competitions. We value the support and commitment of HTC and anticipate their involvement with these competitions will increase the profile of their brand on global scale."
The partnership combines HTC's tradition of working with global leaders in the world of music, imaging, design and sports with interests and cultural passion points of consumers around the globe.
Under the deal, HTC would offer customers access to match tickets and exclusive contents via HTC smartphones and tablet devices. HTC will have their logo shown on broadcasting credits on UEFA Web site and official UEFA photographer's jackets.
In addition, HTC would be involved in high-profile sponsorship agreements. Currently, the company has an ongoing sponsorship with the MOBO music awards and also sponsored the 777 World Tour of popular singer Rihanna.
HTC replaces Sony Mobile which had been a sponsor of the UEFA competitions since 2009. Sony will remain associated with by the PlayStation brand.
The agreement includes association with the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Women's Champions League final and the UEFA Futsal Cup finals.
The agreement ends on the league's 15th season of 2014.
