HTC One, HTC Butterfly Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update Now Available Overtaking Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2
Two of the most popular HTC handsets received the 4.2.2 version of the latest Jelly Bean OS, according to reports.
The Taiwanese manufacturer announced the Android 4.2.2 update will be made available soon after the smartphone is launched. Fortunately, the day has arrived and according to an announcement made by HTC, the update is being made available around the world.
This move from HTC is well ahead than Samsung which has not yet released the 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean OS for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2.
Reports stated that the Android version 4.2.2 is now available in Scandinavia and Taiwan but is also expected that other nations will follow soon thereafter. Those using the HTC One can also go through the settings panel and check whether the update option is available or not.
The latest update is also reported to be available to HTC Butterfly. According to reports, the update is exclusive in Taiwan for now.
Those who own the device in the country can download a Sense 5 skinned version of Android 4.2.2 that is delivered in two downloaded packages. The first of these will prepare the system for the update and patch up some of the bugs currently found in the system. The second will install the actual update. Blinkfeed will also make its way to the device in the Butterfly update. This shows that the company plans to bring some of its HTC One features to its older devices.
This means that the update is also headed to the HTC Droid DNA on Verizon as Android Authority recently displayed some photographic evidence for it coming to the device.
The latest Jelly Bean update comes with new features such as the latest lock screen style as well as widget, launch bar enhancements, modified behavior of the home keys, widget panel rearrangements, the inclusion of quick settings, AF/AE camera arrangements along with a battery percentage indicator placed in the status bar. Lastly, there is also an option for removing the black menu bar.
Similar to the HTC One X after updating the Jelly Bean version, those owning HTC One can map the multitask button in order to make it act like a menu key.
