HTC One M8 Accessory: HTC Set To Release Rapid Charger 2.0 Smartphone Accessory Soon
HTC will be releasing the Rapid Charger 2.0 accessory soon for the company's line of HTC One smartphones. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer claims that the upcoming accessory will be able to charge the HTC devices 40% faster than the standard smartphone chargers.
According to an Android Community report, the announcement on the upcoming smartphone accessory was made on HTC's official site. The Web site has already listed the Rapid Charger 2.0 as a 15 watt travel charger that can charge specific HTC devices to help the users in extending battery life for their everyday use.
The HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 accessory will currently work on the HTC One M8 as well as its Harman Kardon Edition, the HTC One (E8), HTC One Remix, and the HTC Desire Eye. Another HTC device that can use the charging accessory is the HTC One M7.
However, the charging accessory will not work that fast on the HTC One M7 because the device has backwards support for the previous charging technology version which is the Quick Charge 1.0. As for the other brand smartphones, the Rapid Charger 2.0 accessory should work as long as the devices have compatibility with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Click HERE to see photo.
The upcoming fast-charging accessory's compatibility with the devices is just one issue. Availability is another one because interested consumers cannot order the smartphone accessory yet.
According to a PCMag report, the charging accessory does appear on the HTC Web site but there is still no "add to cart" or "buy now" button. An unnamed HTC insider confirmed that the arrival date of the HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 is drawing near as the accessory surfaced on the company's official Web site.
HTC has not yet released an official statement on the pricing scheme, availability or release date of the Rapid Charger 2.0 smartphone accessory. A report from HTCSource claims the first batch of Rapid Charger 2.0 accessory is on the way from Taiwan. The report suggests as well that the pricing for the new HTC charging accessory should be similar to Motorola's Turbo charger which is set at $34.99.
