HTC has apparently unveiled the long-awaited One M9+ handset at a press event in Beijing, China. Packed with bigger screen size and killer cutting-edge features, this handset looks like the device to look out for. And notably, the HTC One M9+ release date is reportedly set for Q2 2015. On the other hand, the metal and glass clad Samsung Galaxy S6 has been around since March 2015 and the release date is pegged to be April 10 at a price of $684.99. The HTC One M9+ features a 5.2-inch Super LCD3 display and 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. And this display combination trickles down to a killer pixel density of 534 ppi. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display but the screen resolution is same as the HTC handset. Therefore, the Samsung handset’s pixel density comes down to 577 ppi. It is worth reminding that, the higher the pixel density, the screen looks sharper and clearer.
When it comes to design, the Galaxy S6 sports a brand new design philosophy unlike other Galaxy S series of flagship devices. In hindsight, the South Korean tech giant has repeatedly been criticised for the plastic-clad Galaxy S smartphones. Upon taking the feedback in its stride, the company has apparently re-invented itself in the design arena with the new Galaxy S6. Specifically, the leather back panel present in the predecessor S5 has reportedly been substituted by glass. Plus, as rumoured earlier, the home button of the One M9+ houses a fingerprint sensor with support for the AliPay payment system specific to China. And speaking of colour, HTC will apparently offer the handset in Gunmetal grey, Amber Gold and Silver Gold hues, notes GSM Arena.

The HTC One M9+ is reportedly powered by an octa-core (Mediatek MT6795T) processor, whereas the Galaxy S6 comes powered by an octa-core (Samsung Exynos 7420) processor. Despite the difference, both the phones are backed by the same 3 GB of RAM configuration.
Moving on to the software configuration, both the handsets run on Android v5.0.2 Lollipop OS. While the Samsung device uses the TouchWiz UI, the HTC handset utilises HTC Sense UI 7.0. Plus, the HTC handset offers 32 GB of storage space, while the Galaxy S6 comes equipped with 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of built-in space. In the meantime, the HTC device supports microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB, whereas the Samsung handset doesn’t.

The Galaxy S6 sports a good 16 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash, OIS and HDR. The HTC One M9+, on the other hand, trumps the S6 fair and square with a killer 20.7 MP + 2.1 MP primary unit with dual-LED (dual tone) flash and HDR. Additionally, the S6 comes with a gracious 5 MP secondary shooter, whereas the One M9+ settles for a 4 MP unit. When it comes to battery specification, the HTC One M9+ features a non-removable Li-Po 2,840 mAh unit, whereas the Galaxy S6 comes equipped with a relatively inferior Li-Ion 2,550 mAh non-removable unit.

1. While the S6 supports wireless charging feature, the HTC device doesn’t. Aside from the standard connectivity options, both the phones support LTE, Infrared port and NFC.
2. Furthermore, both the phones come with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. And as mentioned earlier, similar to the Galaxy S6, the One M9+ also features a fingerprint scanner.
