Hugh Jackman and Other Hollywood Icons Back Up same Sex Marriage in Australia
Hugh Jackman, along with other Hollywood professionals like renowned film critic David Stratton and award winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner, have gathered a clout that would support same sex marriages in Australia.
Even if all three individuals are married in a normal fashion (meaning to someone else of the opposite sex), all of them have released a statement through Australian Marriage Equality. It is an advocacy group that calls and supports same sex couples the right to get married and live happily ever after just like the normal couples.
They all believe at Australia is a place that gives high value to treating everyone equal and prioritizes others' freedom and rights rather than being afraid of being judged. According to the statement, this sense of equality in marriages can eliminate the discrimination with the third sex and the children they call their own. It can also help boost the esteem of their relationships and make their bonds stronger with their partners.
And for them, it is about time that the land of down under already join other countries who have supported such advocacy as well. Alex Greenwich, the convener for the advocacy group, said that the three entertainment icons are all married straight but still openly supports third sex marriages. This is because they value the importance of family regardless if it is for a same sex couple or not, just like what majority of Aussies believe.
Other prominent names in the list of their supporters according to Greenwich also include Kristina Keneally, Nick Greiner, David Pocock, and Derry Hinch amongst many other. They continue to strive in pointing out especially to the coalition that such aim for marriage equality is a thing that is already widely accepted by most Australians in the land.
However, in the point of view of the managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby, using celebrities is just some kind of 'smart marketing.' It's still hard to decide in behalf of the majority of residents out there in the entire country of Australia.
