'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Cast Update: Jena Malone to Star as Johanna Mason?
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is all set to shoot this summer. However, there's one bit of a problem for Director Francis Lawrence, Francis still seems to be missing a few key cast characters. The roles for Finnick Odair, Wiress, Betee, President Snow and Johanna Mason are still missing actors to play them.
Yet, one report says they've already found the perfect Johanna Mason in Jena Malone.
Hailing from District 7 and a winner of the last "Hunger Games" is the ruthless and sly, Johanna Mason. Being the Master of Manipulation, Johanna won the games by pretending to be a non-threatening and weak opponent. Still, there is more to Mason's character than what meets the eye. Having lost everything to the Capitol, Mason becomes an unlikely ally in Everdeen and Mellark's battle against the ruling district and President Snow.
So who among Hollywood talents are the best bets to play Johanna Mason? Earlier reports claimed that the potential actresses for the feisty tribute, Johanna Mason, were down to two. These actresses were namely "Alice in Wonderland's" Mia Wasikowska and model, Zoe Aggeliki.
Though with Mia Wasikowska out of the running due to schedule conflicts, Zoe would seem as the likely candidate but another name has been added in the mix.
Actress, Jena Malone, known for the film "Sucker Punch" alongside Emily Browning, has been considered for the role in the highly-anticipated sequel. Its unlikely Malone has the "wicked ability to murder" as depicted in the book.
Given Malone's film history, the brunette beauty just might have it in her to perfectly portray the role. There still has been no word from the actress or any of Malone's representatives.
As for the actors in the running to play Finnick Odair, two names are in the mix. These would be none other than "The Social Network's" Armie Hammer and "On the Road's" Garrett Hedlund.
With the film set for a November 2013 release, that's a lot of time for Lionsgate and Director Francis Lawrence to make "Catching Fire" an epic film. However, with half of the main cast still missing, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth won't be doing pretty much anything on set unless all "potential" names are set on stone.
