iOS 9 Update Allows Wallet Access From Lock Screen
Apple device users who have already updated to the new iOS 9 may have noticed some name and icon changes with certain apps. The app that was previously known as the Passbook has now been given a new name that seems to be more fitting for its purpose – which is, basically, to replace the actual, physical wallet.
With iOS 9, Passbook is now called Wallet. Although this particular change is highly noticeable with the update, its new name and icon are actually not the biggest changes that were applied to the app itself. What makes the app even more helpful and interesting is that a shortcut has been created so that users can access their digital wallets from the device’s lock screen, as stated in a CNET report.
With this new feature, Apple users who want to use Apple Pay for paying for certain transactions can now do so without having to open the screen, look for the app and clicking it. The iOS 9 version of the Wallet can now be accessed by simply double pressing the home button.
As soon as the home button is pressed, the screen immediately lights up with the default Apple Pay card. For a much easier selection for passes and cards, Wallet users can easily give the stack of cards found at the bottom part of the screen a very quick tap.
Now that Wallet can be accessed more quickly, the entire payment transaction process is given such a tremendous speedup. Users can now access the app without going through any hassles at all.
As instructed by Apple Insider, to turn this feature on, users will have to open Settings, go to Touch ID & Passcode and enter the device’s password. Afterwards, they have to scroll down to a subsection of the menu that says Allow Access When Locked. Once that is done, the toggle switch of the Wallet must be slid to the On mark.
