Voice assistant Siri can now be hacked and be installed in the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch.

Last October 4, Apple unveiled its newest feature, Siri, which is exclusive for the newest generation of iPhone - iPhone 4S. Siri is a voice assistant that responds to voice commands. This new iOS 5 feature can now be transported to iPhone 4 and iPod touch.

Steven Throughton-Smith announced via Twitter that he and chpwn has figured out a way on how to port Siri in a jailbroken iPhone 4 and fourth generation of iPod touch by bypassing authentication issues.

Chpwn is known developer of jailbreak apps such as Infiniboard, Infinidock,Infinifolder, ProSwitcher, VoiceActivator.

Steven tweeted "Have Siri connecting to Apple's servers on iPhone 4 after a hack session with @chpwn." A Twitpic is attached showing a screenshot of Siri working on a Wi-Fi.

The video below shows how Siri works on an iPod touch.

9 to 5 Mac conducted an interview with Steve Troughton-Smith. In the interview, he revealed juicy details about Siri.

Troughton-Smith said that files from the iPhone 4S are needed to make the hack work in non-iPhone 4S devices. Thus, someone must pirate the files. Moreover, the hack requires a validation token from the iPhone 4S that can be obtained from a jailbroken iPhone 4S.

Siri is working 100% in iPhone 4. However, Troughton-Smith said that it does not work too well in iPod Touch. One must speak loudly and clearly for Siri to work.

Troughton-Smith also said that the port will not be available in Cydia as it needs pirate files from iPhone 4S. However, he thinks that someone will try to distribute the port illegally.

Setting up Siri in iPhone 4 and iPod Touch takes only 10 minutes. Check out the video below for a comparison of Siri in the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

There is step-by-step process released on how to port Siri to your iPhone 4. However, Troughton-Smith confirmed that it is useless because it does not include instructions how to bypass authentication issues that is most needed in setting up Siri.
