iPhone 5 Armed with Fast A6 Chip and August Release Date?
New rumours about the new iPhone 5 emerged that the device will be equipped with the A6 chip and will be released in August.
Taiwanese tech Web site Digitimes reported that Apple's 2012 flagship phone will sport a quad core processor, which is different from the previous rumour that it will have an A5X chip that Apple used in iPad 3.
The Web site pointed that Apple's rival companies, HTC, Samsung and LG Electronics, all have a quad core chip that runs their smartphones thanks to Qualcomm that rolled out its lineup of Snapdragon quad-cores and Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 chipset migrates from tablets down to handsets.
Another rumour about iPhone 5 is its new release date. It was reported that Apple will push the release of its 2012 flagship phone iPhone 5 on an earlier date. According to the Taiwan's Central News Agency, Apple will release the iPhone 5 in August to compete with the Samsung smartphones. Taiwan's Central news Agency cited local media sources that Taiwanese suppliers said that Apple moved the schedule.
One of the influences of Apple's decision to put a quad core processor in the device is due to Samsung's high-powered processor.
It seems that tech giant Apple is threatened by the continuously rising sales of Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as the piling rumours that its rival company will be releasing another smartphone in fall.
Apple may be hoping to cut some into Samsung's profit's and stop one of its biggest rivals from claiming a larger share of the market by pushing its release date up by two months. However, as with any smartphone release date news reports are often unreliable.
A lot of analysts expected and predicted that Apple will release the new iPhone 5 in October, a year after the release of iPhone 4S. However, since iPhone 4S did not follow the normal June schedule of iPhone release, it may alter the schedule again this year.
Reuters reported that Samsung expects to sell over 10 million copies of the Galaxy S3 by the end of July, which would make it the fastest selling smartphone. However, Apple is expected to reign in the smartphone market in 2013.
