When Motorola released in June its Moto X smartphone, the possibility of an electronic tattoo or implantable chip on the human body as a tool for identification in lieu of passwords or PIN was raised by Regina Dugan, the chief of Motorola's Advanced Technology and Projects Group.

Back then, there were questions of the technology could possibly be the mark of the beast.

The same question is now being raised after Apple included the fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S. While the technology, discussed further in the video below, is another step forward in biometrics and the fusion of phone and owner, Techradar pointed out that in the next 10 years, such technological developments may appear straight out of a sci-fi novel or movie.

Or straight out of Biblical prophecies linked to the mark of the beast.

Ms Dugan has confirmed that Motorola is working on such a technology which could involve imbedded chips in human skin or electronic tattoo or in pill form.

Techradar said that while the embedding of electronic chips may take a longer period, the CorTemp pill from HQInc exists. Power comes from its very small built-in battery. The pill could be used to measure temperature, heart rate and other data related to the human body, and then it reports back the results wirelessly to another device such as a smartphone.

Another upcoming technology is the Circadia from Grindhouse Wetware, a company dedicated to biohacking in different forms. The Circadia is a tiny implantable circuit board used for measuring body statistics and reports the results wirelessly.

MC10 has developed the Biostamp tattoo built from stretchable silicon with very small circuits and antennae for proving identity.

The following video says such technology is being used in Bossier schools for students to pay for their lunch.

Also being linked as another sign of the mark of the beast is Obamacare.

Whether these speculations are true or mere products of creative minds, it all points to the popularity of end-time prophecies such as the Mayan Calendar, and at the same time, the popularity of these devices that people line up even days ahead of their store delivery to be the first one to own these gadgets.
