iPhone 6C features surface as handset is speculated to enter production
The iPhone 6C has been in the rumours since the time iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released last year. Since there is a good interest among iPhone users for a pocket-friendly 4-inch iPhone, the Cupertino company is heavily expected to release a sequel for the iPhone 5S or 5C. Fresh speculations suggest that the handset is already in production and is likely to be shipped soon.
Unlike previous rumours that stated that the 4-inch iPhone 6C will be based on the iPhone 5C, fresh information reveals that it will be launched as a successor model for the iPhone 5S. Hence, the handset is dubbed as “iPhone 5S Mark II”, Mac Rumors reported citing the popular Mac Otakara blog from Japan as its source.
The design of the iPhone 6C is expected to be similar as that of the iPhone 5S. The rumour mill had also stated that the iPhone 6C would be powered by the Apple A9 chipset. However, the Japanese blog has revealed that the iPhone 6C will be featuring the Apple A8 chipset. It is the same SoC that is present inside the well-acclaimed iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Some of the other features that will be available on the iPhone 6C include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, version 4.1 Bluetooth, enhanced FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture. The iPod Touch (6th gen) features are also said to be present on the iPhone 6C.
According to WCCF Tech, since the A8 chip is supported by 1 GB of RAM on last year’s iPhones, the 4-inch iPhone 6C is also likely to feature 1 GB of RAM. Since the alleged handset is said to be an upgraded edition of iPhone 5S, it may come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded inside the physical Home button.
For the rear camera, Apple may include the 8 MP iSight camera that is available on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. As far as the newly introduced 3D Touch feature of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, the Cupertino tech giant may not make it available on the iPhone 6C since it make it available exclusively on the new iPhones.
