iPhone 8 2017 release date, news & update: Apple bringing 3D camera tech in partnership with LG Innotek
Latest reports suggest that the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 will have a 3D camera and that the Cupertino tech giant could be partnering with LG for the high-end cameras. Apple has already worked with LG Innotek for the iPhone 7 Plus dual digital camera. It is likely that two of the three iPhone 8 variants will have the rear-facing twin camera setup.
Apple may already be working with LG Innotek to enable 3D photographing in Apple iPhone 8 2017. The handset may have added bokeh effects, new portrait mode, 3D features and depth-of-field upgrades.
As per iPhone Hacks, The Korea Economic Daily published an article this week wherein internal sources revealed that Apple is currently analysing how to apply its own 3D camera tech into LG Innotek’s smartphone camera. As LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera, the integration of technologies of both companies will likely bear fruit in 2017.
However, it’s too early to get excited about capturing 3D photos in Apple iPhone 8. However, Apple may use LG Innotek’s 3D camera module for enhancing the Portrait Mode in iOS 10. As per reports, Apple is planning a complete redesign of its iPhone in 2017. The iPhone 8 could have an all-glass body, OLED Display and Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
