Jennifer Lawrence dazzles in new movie ‘Joy’ poster
A newly released poster of the upcoming movie “Joy” featuring Jennifer Lawrence is out, and she looks amazing on it.
Released by 20th Century FOX, the official poster for the film shows J Law looking up at the sky as snow falls. The Lawrence is sporting a blonde bob and aviators.
“Joy” is the third movie collaboration between director David O. Russell and J Law, following “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle”. They will be joined by Bradley Cooper, who also starred in both Oscar-nominated films, in the film about the wild story of a family across four generations, centered around a girl becoming a successful woman and a matriarch in her own right.
J Law is playing the titular role of Joy Mangeno, a 24-year-old mother of three. The teaser trailer released on July 15 shows Joy inventing the Miracle Mop and quickly becoming a successful businesswoman.
Co-star Bradley Cooper, on the other hand, stars as a Home Shopping Network exec who helps the product hit big time. Award-winning actor Robert De Niro will play Joy’s father.
Known for crafting multifaceted, morally ambiguous characters, Russell told Entertainment Weekly that the film “is about a woman’s soul over many decades of her life and how she changes.”
“I wanted to do an epic, unexpected story about the interior life of one woman’s soul, from the ages of 10 to 40,” Russell told EW.
The film is set in the 80s and 90s, and is going to take a different approach musically. “Joy” is Russell’s first movie that has a woman playing the main role.
Meanwhile, J Law said change is an important concept to a Russell production, challenging actors and crew. The actress tagged the respected director as a “mad scientist genius” and “inspired by anything.”
“Working on his sets is like the Olympics of acting,” the actress told EW. “Everything moves so fast. It’s like watching someone do a giant abstract painting or sculpture and you go, ‘Where is this going?’ And all of a sudden you’re like, ‘Oh, it’s a Pegasus. It’s beautiful.”
“Joy” opens in theatres this Christmas. The film is set to compete with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Trip,” “The Hateful Eight,” Will Smith’s “Concussion,” the “Point Break” remake and Leonardo DiCarpio’s “The Revenant.”
