In "Transcendence," which is the first directorial film of "The Dark Knight Rises" cinematographer Wally Pfister, Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is currently in talks to be cast for the lead role.

The upcoming movie project was publicized last March with only the film title revealed. However, other details including the film's storyline are being concealed.

According to a Wednesday press release reported by Collider.com, Alcon film executives Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove announced Johnny Depp's casting involvement in "Transcendence" with its filming scheduled to start in 2013. "Johnny Depp is one of the most charismatic, talented actors imaginable and we are delighted he is with us on this project," Johnson and Kosove said in the release statement.

Also, Wally Pfister has expressed his excitement for the "Pirates of The Carribean" actor to be cast in his directorial debut film.

"I'm thrilled, and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Johnny. He is a creative and intelligent artist whom I feel will bring great depth to the character and the overall narrative," Pfister shared. Alcon Entertainment will finance and produce the upcoming film with acclaimed film director Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas take part as executive producers.

Credited for his collaboration with Christopher Nolan, Wally Pfister is an Oscar-winning cinematographer for his work on "Inception" as well as the 1999 film "Memento." His other stunning and successful films include the Best Picture nominee film "Moneyball," "The Italian Job" and "Laurel Canyon."

To complete the "Transcendence" cast, other celebrities with impressive acting skills are thoroughly considered like Noomi Rapace, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire and Christoph Waltz. In the mean time, Johnny Depp is currently busy filming Gore Verbinski's "The Lone Ranger" where the talented actor portrays the side-kick named Tonto. Disney's reboot movie "The Lone Ranger" is scheduled for a release in 2013.
