John Oliver does not understand the craze over the second royal baby. The “Last Week Tonight” host shared that few people in UK are actually that interested on the royal baby, especially compared with the attention the rest of the world is giving the royal family.

In an interview with Page Six, Oliver shared that British people do not care about royal babies as much as people from other parts of the world. The host claimed that the widespread interest is not even that flattering, because it shows how UK declined so much as an international power.

“It’s one of the only things we produce of international value anymore. It shows how far our empire has collapsed that people tend to look at us whenever members of the royal family are born, die or get married.” The host, however, said he is interested in the Queen and would like to interview her about a lot of things.

An evidence of the world’s anxiousness to see the second baby are the slew of reports about Kate’s activities for the past days. Many are even saying she is already past her due date. All the roads leading to Paddington’s St. Mary Hospital, where she would be giving birth, the same institution where Prince George was born, are already cleared. Princess Kate’s recent trip to her parent’s home as well as her bonding time with Prince George at Bucklebury Farm were all well-documented.

The excitement over the royal family would not seem to die down soon, even after the second baby is born, especially since there are allegations that Kate Middleton and Prince William would not stop at two kids. According to the Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle Gary Goldsmith, people should not be sad if the second baby turns out to be a boy again, because the couple would certainly have more babies, and “there’ll be a girl in the mix at some point."

The uncle also has high hopes for Prince George’s sibling if it turns out to be a girl. He said Kate Middleton was a very pretty child and so would be her daughter.
