Kate Upton has become a household name after she landed the coveted cover for Sports Illustrated in 2012. But the stunning buxom model has revealed that she was nowhere near close to being happy saying she “felt terrible for a “solid one month” after it came out a year ago.

In what seems to be her most revealing interview to date, Kate tells Elle magazine the challenges she had faced as a model.

"After my first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible about myself for a solid month," Kate confessed in an interview with Elle.

She began with how she was being treated by those she had worked with in the fashion industry.

"People deal with models like they are children," Kate also said, adding. "They think they can pull one over on you.”

She noted that she just finds herself shaking her head in situations like those.

She quipped, “It's actually funny. I'm always like, I'm about to pull something on you, and you're so focused on thinking I'm dumb you're not even going to know."

But what was more shocking in her interview was how she felt being treated by men.

"Every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like I was their bachelor present or something,” the Florida-raised model said.

There was a point when she was crying out loud not to be treated like a toy, Kate said.

She said, “I'm not a toy, I'm a human. I'm not here to be used. I am a grown woman, and you need to figure your s--t out."

And the model has all figured this out as such a young age. She began her career in modeling at 19. But she has since appeared in a number of brands since then. Kate has also landed the coveted covers for American Vogue and its Brazilian edition. And her latest appearance on the September 2013 issue for Elle Magazine is another title added to her growing profile.

Kate is both an actress and model. She had already appeared in two films since she cracked to international superstardom. These included Tower Heist (2011) and The Three Stooges (2012). The curvy model is currently working on her third film, The Other Woman she co-stars with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Nicki Minaj.
