After Kelly Osbourne broke her silence over her quitting from “Fashion Police,” co-panelist Kathy Griffin spoke up as well with regard the controversial joke that is said to have triggered Osbourne’s resignation. The veteran comic shared that had it been her, she would never utter the joke that her “Fashion Police” co-host Giuliana Rancic did regarding Zendaya Coleman’s hair.

Rancic caught fire when she said Zendaya's Oscar's dreadlocks looked like it is smelly and someone who smokes weed would sport. In an interview with Chicago Sun-Time’s Splash magazine, Griffin said that even though the joke was not something Rancic thought up on her own, alleviating some of her responsibility, had it been in her in Rancic’s shoes, she would never say that joke on TV. The fact that it is written by another person is already a reason to avoid saying it on “Fashion Police,” she said. “Don’t have anyone write you jokes or even suggest jokes for you on ‘Fashion Police,’” Griffin said, in advice to Rancic. “You have enough great insider gossip from actually being on the red carpet.”

The comic is not saying she is above hurtful jokes. However, she said that for her, as much as she would go for the laugh by saying something inappropriate, she also make sure that her jokes adjust to the times. She said that she has no qualms about making Miley Cyrus jokes as long as she would be able to get a laugh out of it from the people but this does not mean she would just make any joke — even those that are cruel for no reason. She said she would call out on Miley’s fashion sense if she appears on the red carpet with duct tape over her nipple, but she would never make fun of Miley and call her ugly or pathetic for no such apparent reason.

As for Osbourne’s decision to quit, Griffin also said she is not really sure if it was because of the controversial joke on Zendaya’s hair that triggered it. Griffin said she already observed Osbourne not feeling happy about the show already after they just shot “seven tapings of Fashion Police" together.

Osbourne for her part, did not say why she really quit. Page Six reported that she was not happy with how E network handled the joke that went bad, but she personally did not confirmed this. However, when she spoke out regarding her resignation, she shared in her mom Sharon Osbourne's daytime show “The Talk,” that working with “Fashion Police,” for the last five years were her best working years, especially when Joan Rivers was still around, where she learned a lot from.
