Knights supporters remains hopeful to privatize the club
Members of Newcastle Knights turned out in a rally spearheaded by Knights fans supportive of club privatization
A number of Newcastle Knights supporters have rallied last night following the unexpected withdrawal of a mining magnate to withdraw his earlier offers to privatize the club.
Supporters for the club have collected their heads together after Nathan Tinkler gave up his proposed plans to buy the community-owned Knights club at $100 million.
The ABC news said that 80 Knights members came to hear what supporter Mark York had to say about the recent developments on the privatization plans.
York, added ABC had set up a petition, calling for a special meeting that will give club members an opportunity to find out that was caused the proposal not to come into place.
“To compel the board to hold a meeting of its members and at the meeting they tell us the reasons why..,” York said, according to ABC.au.
He added, “…and also for the Tinkler Sports Group to address that meeting so that we can all move forward.”
The rallying crowd was in one page in the plans to privatize the club and has expressed hope that the members would decide on the matter, with or without the financial help of the mining magnate.
