LG announces X screen with secondary display
Starting next month, both the X cam and X screen will be released in Asia, Europe and Latin America
Ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 which is scheduled from Feb. 22 to Feb.25 in Barcelona, LG announced the X series of smartphones. The X screen with a “secondary display” and the X cam with “dual rear camera” module are the first two models of the newly released X series.
Both the smartphones will debut at MWC in Barcelona on Feb. 22, confirmed LG in a press statement.
Positioned as mid-range of handset, the X screen, is equipped with a secondary display screen like LG V10. The 4.93-inch HD main screen is accompanied by a 1.76-inch “Always-on” second display.
The second screen sits above the main display and is surely the main draw of the handset. The user can easily “access frequently used apps, answer calls without interrupting the current activity or just play music,” says LG.
It also helps the user to keep a tab on battery status, check time and date and other notifications without turning on the phone. The X screen sports a 13MP main camera along with an 8MP front facing shooter. The LTE supported handset is run on the latest version of Android OS, the Marshmallow.
Paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native memory, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor powers the X screen. The device houses a 2,300mAh battery. The X screen is available in Black, White and Pink Gold.
The other model, named as the X cam features a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display. Available in Titan Silver, White, Gold and Pink Gold, the LG X cam runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The X cam sports dual cameras on the rear featuring 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. There is also an 8-megapixel front facing camera unit for selfies.
Other hardware specs of the X cam include an octa-core 1.14GHz processor , 2GB of RAM, 16GB of in-built storage and a 2,520mAh battery.
LG has also confirmed to launch the successor of the popular LG G4, the LG G5 on Feb. 21. The leaked teaser indicates an 'Always On' display mode.
