LG will finally release the much awaited Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update for the G2 smartphone. It includes all the changes implemented by Google and the newest version of LG’s branded UI specifically made for Android Lollipop.

LG G2 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop With UX 4.0 Interface Coming Soon

LG is prepping the upcoming Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update for the G2 flagship smartphone. According to reports from TechnoBuffalo, the device will receive LG UX 4.0 user interface on top of the new software version. It is a particular version of LG’s personalised UI for Android Lollipop OS which brings several major improvements using Google’s Material Design.

- Simplified icons matching Google’s Material Design.

- New virtual soft buttons at the bottom part of the screen based on Android Lollipop.

- Redesign camera application.

- Quick Shot camera quick launch by tapping the volume buttons twice.

- Expert Camera mode to group photos taken at a single location into an album.

- Overall visual elements found on LG G3.

- Smart Board feature to allocated information from several apps such as Calendar and Music.

- Smart Alert to display weather information and customised suggestions based on interest.

Official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update for LG G2 is set to be released within two months. Early build of the firmware in South Korea revealed the build version LMY488 and kernel version 3.4.0. It is also the possible final major software release for LG G2 because of its end of life cycle.

Google added several bug fixes and changes on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release. TechnoBuffalo compiled most details about the new software with include improvements to wireless radios, system volume, dual-SIM support and more.

- Mini-menu on the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles in the Quick Settings.

- Change system volume while playing audio or video files.

- Swiping a notification will not dismiss it but keep it for later viewing.

- Wi-Fi without Internet access will not be connected automatically.

- New animation scheme for Auto-Rotate button in the Quick Settings.

- Screen Pinning displays which buttons to press to leave the mode.

- New animations for the Clock application.

- Default Android icons for servers and running applications use flatter Material look.
