LG G3 Set To Receive Android v5.0 Lollipop Update By 2014 End; Screenshots With Material Design Leaked
The LG G3 owners and those planning to buy this incredible handset have got a reason to smile. Reportedly, LG is gearing up to roll out the software update for Android OS v5.0 Lollipop to its 2014 flagship G3. The roll out date is reportedly set towards the end of 2014. Apparently, the company's European wing, LG Netherlands and LG Belgium to be precise, officially announced the Lollipop roll out plan.
Notably, LG's German branch also acknowledged that the G3 will get a full-makeover with Android L, flaunting its Material Design. On the other hand, the predecessor LG G2 will also get the software update towards the beginning of 2015, says Phone Arena.
In the advent of Google's Android source code release, LG is leaving no stones unturned to update the well-received G3 to Lollipop. To further corroborate this, screenshots of the LG G3 adorning Android L's unique design have been leaked. The leaked images show the LG G3's status bar with Android 5.0's new card-based notification. In addition, the new "circular" profile picture design can also been seen among the images.
It is worth noting that, Google's Nexus line of devices provides stock Android experience to the users. But the LG G3, on the other hand, makes use of its customised Optimus User Interface on top of Android OS, says GSM Arena. Hence, the modest difference in the UI will be unmissable, if the Nexus 6 is compared to the LG G3.
In case readers would like to buy this worthy smartphone, here are the key specifications and stand out features. The G3 features the much-appreciated Quad HD screen resolution on a bigger 5.5-inch display. This translates to an impressive pixel density of 534 ppi. The phone is powered by a quad-core (Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz. The handset's 16 GB version comes with 2 GB of RAM, while the 32 GB model is backed by 3 GB RAM configuration. Plus, the device supports expandable memory up to 128 GB.
Speaking of camera, the LG G3 flaunts a solid 13 MP primary unit with dual-LED flash, OIS and 4K video support, in addition to a 2.1 MP selfie unit. LG has experimented on the software side of the camera with the G3, by introducing "Laser Autofocus Sensor" and "Selfie Mode," among others. Notably, the laser autofocus is very agile that it takes roughly 0.276 seconds to focus an object. As far as the battery goes, the smartphone comes equipped with a powerful Li-Ion 3000 mAh unit.
