LG G3 vs. LG G4: With New Stylus Complimenting The Snapdragon 810-Powered Device, Can The G4 Beat Expectations
The well-received LG G3 will be getting its successor dubbed "LG G4" in 2015. Apparently, this flagship device will be pitted against the mighty Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet with the introduction of a stylus named "LG G Pen." Therefore, it is time to compare the early specifications of the G4 with its predecessor G3.
Stylus
While the LG G3 does not come with a stylus, unconfirmed reports state that, the LG G4 will come equipped with a stylus in the likes of the Note 4's S-Pen. The reports also say that LG has filed a trademark of the G Pen in December. Apparently, the company is working on a bunch of software features to set up the stylus multitask better than the Samsung's phablet, says GSM Arena.
Display
According to recent reports, the LG G4 will come with a 5.3-inch display, bundled with a QHD resolution. Meanwhile, the G3 features a 5.5-inch display and 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution. Thereby, LG has reduced the display size of its upcoming flagship device by 0.2-inch. Furthermore, the G4's screen will reportedly flaunt narrow bezels, similar to the G3.
Under The Hood
The LG G4 is expected to be powered by the recently announced 64-bit (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) processor, whereas the G3 utilises a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 SoC, clocked at 2.5 GHz. Plus, the G4 will reportedly be backed by a humongous 4 GB of RAM configuration, while the G3 settles for 2 GB and 3 GB RAM choices.
Camera, Memory And Battery
If the reports are true, the upcoming LG G4 will sport a killer 20.7 MP rear-facing camera unit, in the likes of the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. On the other hand, the G3 comes with a 13 MP primary unit with dual-LED flash and a 2.1 MP sensor at the front.
With respect to memory specification, the LG G4 will reportedly come housed with 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage capacity. Meanwhile, the predecessor comes with 16 GB and 32 GB of storage choices, based on the RAM configuration. Meaning, the 16 GB variant of the G3 houses a 2 GB of RAM, while the 32 GB model features 3 GB RAM configuration.
Moving on to the battery configuration, the upcoming G4 will feature a whopping 3,500 mAh unit, while the G3 settles for 3,000 mAh. Notably, the G3 can provide up to 21 hours of 3G talk time and 553 hours of 3G stand-by time.
Release Date
As the Mobile World Congress event (MWC 2015) nears close, the LG G4 along with the alleged G Pen could be one of the flagship smartphones scheduled for its introduction in March 2015. On the other hand, interested readers can purchase the 32 GB variant of the LG G3 from Amazon for $499.99.
