LG G4 getting Marshmallow on US Cellular
Last year, LG was one of the first OEMs to rollout Google’s latest Android v6.0 to its LG G4 smartphones in October in Poland. By mid-December, the LG G4 on Sprint got a taste of Marshmallow. Now, the US Cellular model of the device will join the Marshmallow party.
According to the official website of US Cellular, LG G4 users will be receiving the latest version of Android OS in the US. The LG G4 device with a model number US-991will reportedly receive software version US99120b .
The website clarifies that the update can be downloaded with or without using the USB cable. Definite instructions are provided by the carrier for successfully installing the update. The Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update will be pushed out in phases and may take some time to reach out to all users.
After the Android 6.0 Marshmallow download notification is received, the user can hit “download” followed by “restart and install.” Users can also manually check for the software update notification. Go to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check For Update.
Once upgraded the owners of LG G4 can enjoy features like Google Now on Tap, Doze Mode, an improved app permissions system, Android Pay and much more. Furthermore, the release notes also confirm that the upgraded handsets will enjoy few security enhancements. According to a report in GSM Arena, the update will remove MobiTV and Mobile Data Security preloads.
Last November, Android 6.0 Marshmallow was also rolled out in select regions in Europe and South Korea. The current roll out on US Cellular indicates that the AT&T and Verizon variants of LG G4 may also get the firmware soon .
