The LG G series smartphones from the South Korean tech company have been touted as premium flagship models. The LG G3 surprised the world by bringing along a Quad HD resolution display. Fresh rumours claim that LG is working on a new lineup of phablets that will feature premium specs than the G series devices.

According to Korea Herald, LG has already registered for a trademark for the LG G4 Note phablet in Korea in February. Rumours have it that the LG G4 Note may be the premium device that was hinted by the Mr. Juno Cho, the President and Chief Operating Officer for LG Corp, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 that was held in Barcelona, Spain.

The LG G4 may get unleashed through a press event in the second quarter of this year whereas the LG G4 Note phablet is slated for a release in the second half of the year. Cho has not confirmed on any information on the specs of the device, but he only revealed that it will be a higher-end product. The LG G4 Note is rumoured to house a curved display with support for 3K resolution, 16 MP rear and 4 MP front-facing cameras.

An interesting piece of information that has cropped up is that a new LG 5.8-inch phablet aimed towards Sprint has been spotted at the FCC, the regulatory body from the U.S. According to the documentation, the device is codenamed as LG LS770 and measures 154.1 x 73 mm. Documentation reveals that the device will come equipped with a smart cover. The device will also support a stylus.

Phone Arena’s report states that the device will support a removable battery of 3000 mAh capacity. Since the device will support LTE bands like 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26 and 41, the phablet is expected to head towards Sprint.

The Korea Herald says that in the past, LG had released phablet devices like the LG Optimus G Pro and the LG Optimus G Pro 2 to take on the Galaxy Note line of phablets from Samsung. However, since it could not achieve popularity, LG has been rumoured to axe its older phablet lineup.
