With the back-to-back release of two of its most power-packed devices this year, LG has the right products to tap into the high-end smartphone market. The LG V10 isn’t the successor of the LG G4 but it's certainly the beefier version of the latter and managed to create a lot of hype among users. Let’s know find out which LG product is worth the buy.
Design and Display
Although both devices come with similar design elements, the LG V10 is sturdier. The LG V10 has a stainless steel frame and sports the durable DuraSkin, which is a silicon material that makes it drop-proof. Certified with MIL-STD-810G, the LG V10 with a bigger 5.7-inch display is definitely a stronger phone, according to Android Authority.
The LG G4 features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution (538 pixels per inch). The device with its leather backs is popular among the younger generation. Most importantly, the latest LG V10 has two screens: one regular display along with a small, secondary 2.1-inch ticker display at the top.
The secondary display shows the status bar icon and notifications when the device is in standby mode. Once unlocked, the secondary display shows app shortcuts and contacts, reports 9to5Google.
Processor
Both devices are powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor. But the LG G4 comes packed with 3 GB of RAM coupled with 32 GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the LG V10 has double the storage capacity with 4 GB of RAM.
Moreover, the LG V10 touts built-in Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology that helps the device to charge at up to 50 percent in 40 minutes.
Camera
In this section, the LG V10 will have an edge over the LG G4. Apart from the display, the LG V10 has also double the camera units. The device sports 5 MP dual selfie-cameras with separate lenses. The camera duo will help users capture extra-wide selfies at 120 degrees. The LG G4 has an 8 MP front snapper.
Where both strike a balance
With similar Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC chips, the LG G4 and LG V10 strike a balance in terms of connectivity. The two phones also have the similar removable 3,000mAh batteries. Both the LG G4 and LG V10 come with microSD card slots that can be used to expand memory up to 2 TB.
Both devices sport the same 16 MP camera at the back with 4K video capability; laser autofocus and optical image stabilisation. Finally, both LG smartphones are pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
With its dual screen, dual front facing camera, better storage and more RAM, the LG V10 is definitely worth a buy compared to its sibling. The LG G4 is available on Amazon and eBay for US$419.49 (AU$578) and US$443 (AU$611), respectively. Today, AT&T has begun pre-orders for the LG V10. T-Mobile will follow on Oct. 28.
