LG G6 will be unveiled in less than a month at MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain, and images of a G6 prototype have leaked. Droid Life first published the images, clearly stating that the smartphone does not look like a finished product.

The images look like an early development version. They seem a bit weird considering the wired setup at the rear of the device. However, the leaked images do share a few titbits about the upcoming device that may be included in the final model. This will be true only if the leaked prototype is not a fake.

According to Tech Times, as LG has kept the G6 specs under wraps, it has led to numerous rumours doing rounds on the Internet. One such rumour is that the LG G6 won’t be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as Samsung is reportedly holding back on the chips until its flagship Galaxy S8 release. LG G6 is also expected to be the first mobile phone to come with Google Assistant, a feature currently exclusive to Google’s Pixel phones. Other reports suggest a non-removable battery and a water-resistant phone.

The LG G6 could sport a 5.7-inch quad HD screen and nearly a bezel-less design, something the leaked prototype also shows. GSMArena has reported a metal uni-body construction and the placement of the fingerprint scanner and dual cameras are in line with the previously leaked LG G6 cases. This has at least given an idea how the smartphone will look when unveiled. It is still not known whether the display will have rounded corners. The device is expected to have a mono speaker beside the speaker grills, a microphone at the other end and USB Type-C port.

Even if the leaked prototype is real, the end product is likely to sport a different material and other finishing touches by LG. Droid Life states that even though the world is eagerly waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship, the LG G6 smartphone will also sport some pretty impressive specs and that LG has done a good job up to now. LG may end up dropping the LG G5’s modular design. The expected Quad HD+ display is said to consume 30 percent less energy than G5. LG may finally settle for a Snapdragon 821 chipset for G6.

For now, it is a patient wait till the MWC 2017 where the LG G6 is expected to be unveiled. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on upcoming LG handsets.
