LG will be launching webOS based TV at CES 2014 in Las Vegas in just few weeks, said by a report released by Wall St. Journal Digits Blog. This webOS is a mobile operating system originally developed by Palm for smartphones featured in Palm Pre, a mobile device. When Palm dropped, it was sold to Hewlett Packard and is used to support the short-term TouchPad Tablet. Later webOS was bought by LG. Now webOS is back through LG and it will be first publicised at CES 2014.

This webOS has a card-like user interface that allows users to select working apps by dragging them or by swiping them away when users wish to close it. These features of the webOS are already seen on other mobile Apps all over the world, so you can say that webOS is not advanced but still working.

The report from Wall St. Journal Digits Blog whose source wants to remain unknown, stated that TV OS will have same feature just like card-like Ul making people to just swipe through heap of pop-ups then viewers will be allowed to operate list of apps.

Basically, you can swipe away content that you view on TV boxes like the HBOGo, Netflix and Apple TV. Although the collaboration between providers and cable company will be challenging this sort of technology needs to start somewhere.

LG, the second-largest TV market next to Samsung has been quite busy churning out new TV models this 2013 to spark interest to the segment responsible for almost 40 per cent of its revenue. Furthermore, LG is expected to announce a 105 inches curved screen television at the CES in Las Vegas this January. Samsung recently unveiled the same huge TV just recently.

Meanwhile, Samsung in collaboration with the Intel Corp., has been working on an operating system dubbed the Tizen. This new operating system is expected to power TVs and smartphones and it is expected to debut next year. If this will push through, this move will intensify the completion between the two Korean tech giants that lead in the TV industry.
