Lumia 940 is rumoured to be the flagship device that Microsoft is expected to release this year. It will be the first Lumia flagship to release after the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft in April 2014. Speculations have it that it will be a successor model for the Lumia 930 that was released last year. It is expected to house the specs and features of a cancelled Nokia model that was codenamed as McLaren with model number 1030.

The Lumia 1030 with monstrous 50 MP camera was rumoured to succeed the Lumia 1020 that was equipped with 41 MP PureView camera, reports Phone Arena. According to The Verge post from December last year, the Lumia 1030 was expected to launch with a 20 MP camera instead of 50 MP camera. However, the device has been abandoned. WM Power User (WMPU) states that the Lumia 940 will sport the Mixview feature that was anticipated to arrive on the Nokia McLaren. It is comprises of a small tile of 150 x 150 pixels at the center that is surrounded by eight other tiles of varied sizes consisting of pictures and texts.

If the device supports 3D Touch, hovering over the small central tile will activate the other tiles. If the device does not support 3D touch feature, it will function by tapping on the corner area of the tile with ellipses. WMPU also adds that it will be the first device to roll out with Windows 10 Mobile preloaded on it.

The International Business Times report from March highlights the leaked information from Fudzilla. The Lumia 940 is expected to bring support for docking station and iris scanner as a biometric security feature.

According to the ITWire report, the Lumia 940 will be featuring a 5-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 screen protection. It will be powered by an unknown Snapdragon 8XX chipset that will deliver a clocking speed of 2.7 GHz supported by 3 GB of RAM. The IBTimes report says it will feature Snapdragon 805 chipset.

It will be available in three storage options like 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The Lumia 940 will house a 5 MP selfie camera that will support full HD video recording. ITWire reports that ti will feature 24 MP PureView camera with two or three LED flash.
