Former Chelsea player Nemanja Matic has been reported to have caught Manchester United's interest, which may see him don the red uniform in January.

Matic, 25, failed to make the most out of his first stint in the English Premier League with the Blues and was eventually sent to Benfica in a cash-plus-player swap that brought David Luiz to Stamford Bridge.

His current club, Benfica, will be willing to depart with the defensive midfielder for, at least, £20million, according to The Mirror.

United have shown their eagerness by sending out scouts to further assess the Serbian's capabilities, which has been noted to be imposing in the air, standing at 6'4, and is equally impressive on the ball.

However, the Red Devils are not alone in chasing Matic's signature as Italian side Napoli are also rumoured to have an interest in securing his services.
