Michelle Rounds Will ‘Walk Away From Prenup’ For Child Custody As Rosie O'Donnell's Camp Calls Her Gold Digger
Rosie O’Donnell is currently fighting an ugly custody battle with Michelle Rounds for their adopted daughter Dakota. Her camp is accusing her estranged wife Rounds of using their kid to squeeze more money out og her but Rounds says that she can certainly walk away from the prenup -- and the money involved -- if she is given sole custody of the daughter.
O'Donnell, who recently quit “The View” to sort things out at home as she separates with her wife of three years, Rounds, is now dealing with the possibility of losing her daughter as well. Page Six reports that according to the lawyers of Rounds, their client wants sole custody of the child they adopted in 2013 because it is “unequivocally in their child’s best interest and general welfare.”
From O’Donnell’s camp however, representative Cindi Berger told ET that Rounds is only using the child for her gain and doubting the former host’s capability as a mother is “absurd.” Speculations that Rounds just want to use the baby to get millions from O’Donnell also has surfaced, though the attorney of Rounds, William London, was quick to deny. The attorney persists that his client wants nothing but the child’s welfare.
Speaking exclusively to ET, Rounds said she feels sad that O’Donnell and her publicist would tarnish her character when she only wants what is best for the child. She said that all she wants is for Dakota to grow up in a normal environment, which the kid would not be able to experience under O’Donnell’s roof because she would be cared for by “24/7 nannies.” Rounds even revealed that the baby sleeps with nannies. She clarified that she is not after O'Donnell's money at all because first, she has her own, and second, she is capable of walking away from the prenup if she gains full custody over Dakota.
When she quit “The View,” where she was once a regular host, O’Donnell cited her health and family duties as the reasons. She shocked everyone when she also announced that she was going to file a divorce from her wife. The host already has five kids to care for, four of whom were her children with her former partner, Kelli Carpenter. Page Six is reporting that it is precisely because O’Donnell and Rounds’ difficulties with taking care of such a big family that led them to constantly fight and ultimately end up in this divorce. The source of the publication said that Rounds was never present for the kids.
