Microsoft has launched its latest flagship smartphones in India and both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will begin to go on sale by December 11.
The Lumia 950 can be purchased on Amazon India, Microsoft Priority sellers and Reliance Digital stores for $898 or Rs 43,699 while the Lumia 950 XL is going to available for $1,015 or Rs 49,399, as reported by Tech2. Both flagships will also have dual SIM variants
Avid Microsoft tech users will be delighted to know they can pre-order these phones along with a free Display Dock normally worth $123, or Rs 5,999 -- as long as supplies last.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are the first Android devices to support Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 10. Although they’re going to use the same OS, it must be noted the same can’t be said about everything else.
The Lumia 950 is the series' smaller version with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and 565 ppi. It’s powered by a Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm and 3 GB of RAM.
The Lumia 950 XL, meanwhile, is the larger gadget with a 5.7-inch IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and 518 ppi. It packs a 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and also 3 GB of RAM.
Despite being Microsoft's latest flagship smartphones, both phones might not sell in huge numbers, believes the Indian Express. Apparently, the Redmond-based tech giant's target market for these smartphones are loyal Windows users and business clients that have opted to forgo newer Lumia models.
To date, avid Windows users are still seen using the older Lumia 540 or Lumia 640 XL. As it turns out, these previous generation models are the ones Windows fans like to use more often. Moreover, their prices are also less than half the retail price of Microsoft's Lumia 950 series.
