Microsoft Surface 3 went on sale in the early May 2015 and this hybrid tablet is the most portable, efficient and affordable, making it prevail over the reign of standard laptops. Already, the tablet has been touted as a versatile device and the quite a big display, along with an external keyboard makes it a mini laptop. A fast synopsis of the upside and downside may decide, if it can really replace the laptops.

Microsoft Surface 3 includes the Intel processor, which is capable of making it to run any kind of software, like a laptop. Foxnews says, “So, gone is Windows RT (and the ARM processor it ran on) that essentially locked consumers out of the vast library of Windows software running on Intel chips”.

Surface 3 boasts with a high-end design, which is the outcome of magnesium alloy in ceramic finish, unlike other contenders in the market. With 1.37 pounds, it is eminently portable. The microSD card can be used to expand the memory, unlike the Google Nexus and Apple iPad. It sports a magnificent display with 10.8 inch screen and 1920 x1280 resolution.

Surface 3 is geared up with the latest Intel Processor, the Quad-core Atom processor. The USB and Display Port connectors; gorgeously integrated kickstand; along with a stylus pen with pressure sensitive technology, makes it more superfluous like laptops. The package includes Office 365 Personal subscription for one year and the pricing starts from $499, while the latest Apple iMac costs $1,019.

Can Surface 3 really vanquish laptops?

If we peep into the downside of Surface 3, the pricing $499 is not all inclusive rather the Surface 3 Type Cover detachable keyboard costs additional $129.99 and if your option is mid-ranger with 128 GB storage, the cost may exceed $700. Many reviews point out that Surface 3 is not comfortable to use more than 15 minutes, if it is set on the lap, because the keyboard kickstand can be used only on the flat surface. Though it has a touch screen, it is not user-friendly.

One more cautionary note from the reviewers alert the users, as the battery life is not in par with the tablets of the contenders and eventually, the chances of swapping the tablet market are low. Techanalysis Research Bob O’Donnell says that the Surface 3 may reasonably be well placed in the tablet market, but definitely cannot replace a laptop.
