Minecraft Snapshot 14w05a Released, Fans Already Creating Projects
Mojang is churning out snapshots at a fast pace for its upcoming update for Minecraft. The latest is the Minecraft snapshot 14w05a featuriing some additions and fixed bugs.
There are two additional features for survival, activator rails can eject entities from Minecarts and book copying mechanics has been altered to differentiate the original and copies of books.
*Titanfall on Xbox One may not have local Australian servers. How do you think this will affect the game? Read here for more.
There are also some additions for map makers, cited here from Mojang's Web site:
- Added a specttor game mode (/gamemode spectator). Not 100% finished
- Spectators cannot be seen by anybody but other spectators
- Spectators can view inventories, etc., but not modify them
- Spectators can go through any entity or block without interfering with it
- Spectators can click on entities to take their camera
- Spectators use items, place blocks, destroy blocks, or interact with blocks in any way
- Spectators are only slightly buggy
A number of bugs have been fixed for this snapshot such as incorrectly rendered items and blocks being placed in item frames, pre-snapshot 14w04a villagers breaking crops without replanting them, darker transparent blocks, two tall flowers that are not generating, blocks that are facing the wrong way if placed in an item frame, the map not showing in the item frame, and villagers not having the ability to place or pick up any crops.
*PlayStation Now is already starting out on beta access for a few lucky individuals: Read the full story here.
The full list of bug fixes can be seen in the link above. As always, bug reports should still be reported over at the link here.
Projects With Minecraft Snapshot 14w05a
A couple of Minecraft gamers have been experimenting with the new snapshot and started to explore them and post the results online.
*There will be a new mode for Borderlands 2, specifically tailored for those with colorblindness: Read the details here.
Here's one from Redditor powerofthepickle, where he created a gif showing the Minecart's ability to throw off the rider when on a powered Activator Rail.
Another Redditor, Splodger1, has found a glitch where you can have spider vision while on spectator mode. As viewed in imgur, the image shows different angles of the same landscape.
"When you enter spectate mode, left click a spider and then leave the world and come back to it, you leave the spider but still have the spider vision, you can move freely and play normally!" the creator said.
Another take on one of the creatures in Minecraft is the Enderman vision. Redditor ironyEDITS cam view the Minecraft landscape with that filter, creating this image.
"I'd imagine it wouldn't be very pretty. Besides spectating from the mob's perspective is like taking over their soul. Kinda creepy," ironyEDITS said.
The invisible blocks are making quite a wave among the users. One project showed off a flat world made out of new invisible blocks in 14w05a, which ended up looking like a giant mirror, as seen in this imgur image. This other image has created a roller coaster with invisible blocks.
