The Instagram war between U.S.-based Filipino radio talk show host DJ Mo Twister and actor and basketballer Ervic Vijandre, the suitor of Miss Philippines Universe Ariella Arida is far from over.

Even if Ariella has asked Vijandre not to get back to the radio host, he told Pep.ph that Mo Twister's only sole motive in speaking against the beauty queen is to destroy her chances of winning the Miss Universe crown.

Vijandre said, "What Ariella said was taken out of context ... what he (DJ Mo) wanted was to get the attention of the Latinas."

"If you watched the entire interview of Ara, what she wanted to say was that the Latinas, even if they don't speak English so well, they couldn't construct a sentence in English, but they are always the winners in the pageant."

He stressed it only proves that it really isn't that important in being a fluent English speaker to win the title. Arida has been criticised by some Filipinos for her limited English-speaking ability.

Vijandra called on Filipinos not to bring our candidate down but to support her. He added that according to Ariella's text messages to him, she is okay with the Latina candidates since the controversy over her remarks for which she apologised is only in the Philippines.

Vijandre also used the interview with Pep.ph to apologise to gays for using the terms "gay" and "lady boy" in a derogatory manner in his Instagram war with the Mo Twister.

"What I wanted to say was it is not a masculine quality to pick a war with a woman ... to speak ill of a woman," he pointed out.
