The Chicago Cubs have continued talking with the Philadelphia Phillies about a possible Cole Hamels trade in this regular season of Major League Baseball.

The Cubs are not alone in pursuit of Hamels, according to the report form the Chicago Sun Times, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox also interested in the left-handed starting pitcher.

"You're always thinking about that stuff," Jed Hoyer, the general manager of the Cubs said in the article. "You're at a stage where a two- or three-game winning streak or losing streak really changes your outlook in a hurry. But certainly we're hopeful that we're in that position. And we're obviously going to prepare as if that's the case."

Back in February, Hamels repeated his stand in wanting a trade out of Philadelphia saying he “just wants to win”.

"I want to be in the playoffs every year. That's where you make a name for yourself. It's not about the Cy Young awards and MVP awards. It's about winning championships. You want to be in a place where you have a chance to win.” Hamels said to USA Today in February.

Hamels threw in 204 innings in the 2014 season with 198 strikeouts and 2.46 ERA. He is a hot commodity in the trade market with other teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers also showing interest in acquiring him in the last offseason or this season.

Hamels is a three-time MLB All Star and has won the Babe Ruth Award in 2008 and also won the World Series and World Series Most Valuable Player award that year. Hamels has a career win-loss record of 108-83 with 3.27 ERA and 1,707 strikeouts.

At the time of the Hamels trade demand, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro stated that the asking price for any team interested is very high and that they won’t give up the ace pitcher for scraps.

The Cubs currently have 12 wins against 8 losses in young 2015 season, second in the Central Division of the National League. The Phillies are expectedly struggling with 8 wins against 15 losses, placing last in the East Division of the conference.
