Motorola has been busy with releases of software updates to its devices. Motorola Droid RAZR with Droid RAZR Maxx recently receiving Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. The company is now preparing to push 4.1 Jelly Bean for Motorola Droid Bionic.

Motorola launched an update timeline Web site for users to find information about the future releases of software upgrades, and the Web site confirmed Droid Bionic's Jelly Bean update.

Droid Bionic was launched running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and owners have waited a very long time to have it updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The company will push the update of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on the second quarter of 2013.

How to Know if Your Device Will Receive an Update?

1. Visit the Motorola Software Upgrade News.

2. Select where have you purchased your Motorola device.

3. After choosing which carrier, select the device on the following choices shown.

4. If you choose an eligible device, the Web page will display details of when the roll out began.

5. For the devices that will stay on their current OS, a Trade Up is encouraged by Motorola to obtain phones with Jelly Bean OS and possible rebate.

6. Unfortunately, devices running from Android 1.5 Cupcake to Android 2.3 Gingerbread that are not displayed will never receive anymore updates.

Trade Your MOTO

MOTO Trade Up allow owners to trade their current handsets to Jelly Bean running devices.

1. Select your phone from the list of eligible smartphones displayed.

2. Select the new Motorola smartphone you want.

3. Depending on which device you have decided to trade-in, you have to bring your eligible used smartphone to the nearest Wireless Store.

4. Another method offered by Motorola is purchase a new smartphone first to receive $100 return and then mail them for the used phone and valid proof-of-purchase such as receipt and UPC code. Then Motorola will send you a $100 Motorola Visa Prepaid Card within 6-8 weeks.
