Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is now official; has ShatterShield tech and longer battery life
It's available in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options
Verizon Wireless recently announced the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 with a shatterproof display and a powerful battery. The phone, however, seems to be a rebranded version of the Moto X Play launched in the U.S.
At the same event in the New York City, Verizon Wireless also announced the budget Maxx 2 notable for its 48 hour battery life.
Motorola Droid Turbo 2
Motorola Droid Turbo 2, which is exclusively available on Verizon, comes packed with a 5.4-inch Quad HD display and a massive 3630 mAh battery. The TurboPower charging can juice up the phone for 13 hours of power in just 15 minutes. The device will be available in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options and come packed with microSD card slot for up to a 2 TB of expandable storage, reported CNET .
The world’s first ever smartphone with a shatterproof display also houses a 21 MP rear camera with rapid focus and zero shutter lag along with a 5 MP wide angle front camera. Getting bored with the colours? Verzion will allow users to refresh the design specifications, including “an upgrade to the 64 GB model”, once in two years.
Users can fully customise their Droid Turbo 2 with Moto Maker for a US$96 (AU$135) one-time fee. They can alter the colour and the phone cover from a wide range of options, including materials like leather or ballistic nylon.
“Moto ShatterShield’s display technology is an integrated system consisting of five-layers designed from materials that absorb shock from impact and are proven not to crack or shatter. The integrated system maintains touch performance and structural integrity over the life of the Droid Turbo 2”, said Verizon in press release.
Price and availability
Starting Oct. 29, Droid Turbo 2 will sell for US$26 (AU$36) per month for the 32 GB variant on a two year-contract and for US$30 (AU$42) per month for 24 months for the 64 GB model. All variants will be available online and in store with design refresh option.
Motorola Droid Maxx 2
The Droid Maxx 2 features a 5.5-inch full HD display; 16 GB of storage, a microSD slot for up to 128 GB expandable storage; a powerful 3,630mAh battery; TurboPower charging that provides 8 hours of use with a 15 minute charge and a 21 MP rear camera. Users will be able to personalise their Maxx 2.with an additional five interchangeable Motorola Shells that can be purchased separately. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the device will get a Marshmallow update in future.
Price and availability
The Droid Maxx 2 will be available at US$16 (AU$22) per month for a 24 month contract. The smartphone can be purchased from Verizon online, as well as through its physical retail stores.
