Verizon Droid Turbo 2 features a shatterproof display
Verizon and Motorola have sent out press invites for an event on Oct. 27 in New York City where both will launch the next generation of their Droid smartphone. The two heavily hyped smartphones are the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2.
The most interesting speculation remains the "shatterproof" display screen on these new phones. A leaked promotional leaflet acquired by Droid Life reveals the new Droids will feature this incredible display technology. And Verizon is pushing its new phones hard.
Verizon is running discount offers of up to $300 off for the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 in exchange for devices with used or cracked screens.
Motorola has yet to reveal the details of its shatterproof technology, however. But it’s likely that both Verizon and Motorola will rely on this innovative technology to promote their smartphones. The shock resistant technology will likely result in a stronger display.
The Droid Turbo 2 is expected to sport a 5.4-inch QHD display. The handset is rumoured to have the Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage options and a 3,760mAh battery.
Furthermore, the leaked info also reveals that both new Droid devices can be customised on Motorola’s popular Moto Maker. This means users can pick and choose colour and material from a pool of more than 1,000 combinations, reports The Verge. The leak also mentioned that Verizon’s exclusive Droid Turbo 2 may come in options like leather and ballistic nylon.
In this context, it’s worth mentioning the new Droid Maxx 2, which is actually the rebranded version of the Moto X Play marketed in the US, will tout a 48-hour battery life. The 5.5-inch device will also include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, 2 GB of RAM and a massive 3,630mAh battery.
