NBA News: Kevin Love Hurts Shoulder, Could Be Out For 10 Days
Kevin Love hurt his shoulder in Game 4 versus the Boston Celtics in a play involving opposing big man Kelly Olynyk. Love missed the rest of the game and is now in danger of missing at least the 10 days, according to reports. If the early diagnosis holds true, the Cavaliers star forward will most likely miss a game or two in the next round; possibly against the Chicago Bulls, who have a 3-to-1 series lead in their best-of-seven affair against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Love will undergo an MRI in the next few days to determine the severity of the damage. Love sustained the injury—a dislocated left shoulder, when Olynyk locked and grabbed Love’s arm on a rebound play. Love called Olynyk’s move “bush league play” and that it was “not a basketball play”.
"Olynyk was in a compromising position, had no chance to get the ball, and it's just too bad that he would go to those lengths to take somebody out of the game and do that to someone. I have no doubt in my mind that he did that on purpose," Love shared in post-game interviews via ESPN.com.
NBA officials will most likely review the play and Love is hoping that the league will punish Olynyk accordingly. Love finished with 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in just 7 minutes on the floor. The good news for Love is that his team swept the Celtics with a 101-93 victory in Game 4.
Love is part of Cleveland’s “Big Three” along with superstars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and the latter two combined to score 51 points, about half the team’s total production, in the clinching win against the Celtics. Lov is appearing in his first-ever playoff series and has played well so far; he had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds in a 113-1110 Game 1 victory and had 23 points with 6 three-pointers in a 103-95 Game 3 win.
