It is expected that 2015 will be the year wherein more ultra thin and light laptop models will get launched. NEC has jump started with the release of PC series NEC LaVie Hybrid Zero, the newest lightweight laptop series to hit the market.

It is important to note that the LaVie series come in 2 models which happen to be 2-in-1 hybrid devices. The models come with a touchscreen display that can rotate 360 degrees. It can rotate in such a way that the user can put the display back-to-back with the keyboard making the laptop function as a tablet.

The two models that NEC has created are the: HZ750/AAB and HZ650/AA. The LaVie series got showcased at the recently concluded 2015 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. The two hybrid laptop models offer interesting specs.

The HZ750/AAB model measures 319x16.9x217mm, weighs 929 grams and comes in black variant. It sports a 13.3-inch WQHD display with 2560×1440 resolution. The laptop is powered by Core i7 5500 processor with the support of 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB SSD phone storage. It uses the Windows 8.1 64-bit version as its platform. The HZ750/AAB model claims 9 hours of battery life.

On the other hand, the HZ650/AA model measures 319x16.9x217mm and weighs 929 grams. It is available in black and silver variants. The 13.3-inch model has a Full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution. It is equipped with Core i5 5200U processor with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB SSD internal storage. The laptop runs Windows 8.1 Update 64bit version. NEC claims that the HZ650/AA model can withstand 11.6 hours off battery life.

Geek reports that NEC also introduced the HZ550/AAB model, which is a regular clamshell type notebook. Report says that it is the world’s lightest 13.3-inch notebook at 779 grams.

The regular notebook which comes in black variant measures 319x16.9x212mm. It sports a WQHD display with 2560×1440 resolution. It is powered by Core i5 5200U with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB SS of onboard storage. The HZ550/AAB version uses Windows 8.1 as its operating system. The company claims that the device has 5.9 hours of battery life.

The three model from the NEC LaVie series will be up for sale in Japan in Feb. 5. Liliputing.com reports that Lenovo intends to bring the new laptop series to the United States this year.
