New changes are coming to battle system of ‘Final Fantasy XV’
The upcoming “Final Fantasy XV” will be getting a new addition to its battle system. The change will affect the weapon switching mechanic of the game, which was not received well by fans in the “Final Fantasy Episode Duscae” demo.
Game Director Hajime Tabata announced the new change on the game’s official forums, Dualshockers reports. The new change allows players to switch weapons while attacking. In “Final Fantasy Episode Duscae,” players are allowed to have preset weapons for each particular attack.
Tabata calls the change as a real-time weapon switching system. The new system will require players to assign weapons for the up, down, left and right keys on the D-pad. Doing so will allow players to easily switch weapons real-time by simply pressing on one of the D-pad’s keys.
In the “Final Fantasy Episode Duscae” demo, there was a Break→Rush→Slash system. The previous battle mechanic resulted in unintended weapon switching during an attack or combo. With the new system in place, players can now change weapons on command despite being in the middle of combat.
The new system could prove to be of great use to players especially when they are battling enemies with significant element weaknesses. What the player could do is switch to a weapon with a different element to counter the current foe. It could also be used to mix up status ailments on weapons.
The change in the battle system is only one of the few announcements made for “Final Fantasy XV.” Recently, the developer also announced that Chocobo riding and fishing will be available for the base game, Forbes reports.
“Final Fantasy XV” launches for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year.
